Resurrected Corpse Flower D.S. & Durga
A few years ago at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden I stood beside a corpse flower at the peak of its bloom. The smell was overwhelming—rot and sweetness tangled together, unmistakably foul. That encounter stayed with me. What if the same decay could die and return as something beautiful? The scent is built from contrasts that hold both darkness and light. Grapefruit brings a bitter freshness. Green olive is earthy yet still green and alive. Bog cedar is woody, but wet and cool. Tuberose absolute is floral and waxy, with a deep earthiness underneath. Together they reconstruct the corpse flower as if it had been resurrected, its rankness transfigured rather than erased.
